The show begins in Mrs. Murdstone’s Orphanage.

Here Olivia discovers that the strictness of her previous home - a convent - is nothing compared to the horrors of her new abode.

She soon asserts her rebellious nature and so begins a series of events which trace her steps from downtrodden orphan to the star of the stage.

But what is the significance of her locket ?

And who taught her the song she can barely remember ?

On her journey to the bright lights of London, she meets a disparate collection of characters instantly recognizable from shows, novels and plays set throughout the Victorian era.
